Ratio Calculator – Simplify & Split Amounts
This Ratio Calculator simplifies two numbers into the smallest ratio and also shows the percentage share of each part. You can optionally enter a total amount to see how that amount will be split according to the ratio, which is useful for profit sharing, budgets, recipes, and more.
Enter Values for the Ratio
Leave blank if you only want the simplified ratio and percentages.

Method Used
- Step 1: Convert both numbers to whole numbers (if they have decimals).
- Step 2: Find the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the two whole numbers.
- Step 3: Divide both by the GCD to get the simplified ratio.
- Step 4: Find each share % from total parts of the ratio.
- Step 5 (Optional): Split the total amount according to these parts.
Notes
- Works best with positive numbers (0 and negative values are not allowed).
- Handles decimal values by converting them into whole numbers internally.
- Shows both simplified ratio and percentage share of each part.
- If you enter a total amount, you also get the exact split for each side.
Where Can You Use This Ratio Calculator?
This ratio calculator is useful anywhere you need to compare two quantities or split something fairly. Here are some common real-life situations where it saves time and avoids manual calculation errors.

Split business profits, investments, or partnership income according to agreed ratios without doing manual calculations.
Monthly Budget & Expense Split
Divide household or project expenses between two people based on income or responsibility ratio.
Recipes, Mixing & Ingredients
Scale recipe ingredients up or down while keeping the correct ratio between main items like flour, water, and spices.
Comparing Marks & Performance
Compare scores of two students or subjects and see how much one is ahead of the other in ratio form.
Construction Mix & Design
Use ratios for concrete mix, paint mix, or design scaling where proportions must stay consistent.
Savings & Investment Planning
Split your monthly savings between two goals (like emergency fund and investment) in a fixed ratio.

Ratio Calculator – FAQ
It simplifies two numbers to their smallest ratio and shows the percentage share of each part. If you add a total amount, it also shows how that amount is split according to the ratio.
Yes. You can enter decimals like 1.5 and 2.25. The calculator converts them into whole numbers internally and then simplifies the ratio correctly.
After simplifying the ratio, it adds the parts to get total parts and then divides each part by the total. This value is multiplied by 100 to get the percentage share.
The total amount field lets you split a real amount (like money or quantity) in the given ratio. The calculator shows how much each side receives from that total.
No. Ratios are generally used with positive quantities, so this tool only accepts positive numbers greater than zero for both parts.
This version is designed for two-part ratios only, like A:B. For more parts, you can simplify each pair step by step or use multiple calculations.
